Fritz Schiffers is a video artist living and working in Berlin. Drawing from european youth culture, early internet porn, and contemporary fashion, his multi-layered installations revel in the beauty, loneliness, and obscenity of young urban life. Schiffers studied graphic design at the peter Behrens School of arts in dusseldorf, where he developed a signature style of videography that involves multiple cut-ups and re-tapings of his material. His technique blurs the line between digital and analog, imbuing his work with an eerie sense of familiarity and ambiguous nostalgia. Like home videos from a place in time that never existed, they appear almost incidentally beautiful, and unwittingly haunting. (Text: Nele Ruckelshausen)
